Spanish flavour

Goierri Foods was established in 2012 by Eric Jenner Mendia. Born in the shadow of Mount Txindoki in the Basque region of Goierri in Spain, from which the name of my company comes, Eric studied for 2 years under the gaze of the legendary Karlos Arguiñano, perhaps the most influential chef in the Spanish speaking world, at the prestigious Aiala School of Catering in Zarautz on the coast of Guipuzkoa.

13 years in various restaurants and hotels in the Basque Country and Catalonia, finally becoming head chef which involved organising weddings and other social events as well as the day-to-day running of the restaurant.

In 2012, after 13 years of experience working in some of the top restaurants and hotels in the Basque Country and Catalonia, Eric came to the UK to set up his own catering business focussing on Spanish and Basque cuisine. It began in local markets and eventually spread to food festivals until Eric was providing a Spanish cuisine catering service for weddings and parties of up to 200 people in and around Exeter.

Since 2017 Goierri Foods provides the most authentic Spanish cuisine experience within 100 miles of Exeter. Eric’s experience and devotion to the authenticity of his native Basque cuisine has earned him a reputation for excellence, with various food festivals and awards to support his success.
